Rencontrer quelqu’un, passer un mois, deux voire quatre ans de sa vie à ses côtés, puis se séparer, en oubliant tout ces « je t’aime » lancés à tout bout de champs, ces moments de forte complicité durant lesquels les deux amants ne faisaient plus qu’un. Ou rencontrer une personne qui l’espace d’un laps de temps est notre ami, notre allié devant la réalité et le quotidien.

Khalid Albaih traduit graphiquement cette rencontre, le zénith de cet amour frôlant la perfection, puis cette séparation qui efface tout. Le graphiste reste tout de même dans le domaine de l’illustration en choisissant une présentation sous la forme de la bande dessinée. Chaque épisode correspond à un stade de l’évolution de cette relation. Le lecteur peut suivre la naissance et l’évanescence de trait qui entre subtilité et fragilité nous relate une histoire, une vision de la relation entre deux individus.

Sans un mot – si ce n’est le titre de la production et le nom de l’auteur – ni surchage de couleur, la gestion des vides et des pleins fait résonner notre imaginaire dans ce silence graphique. La simplicité et la sobriété du trait renforcent le propos de l’artiste, qui est lourd de sens et de propos sur le thème de l’amour et/ ou de l’amitié.

Une rencontre, une fusion, une séparation… Le début d’un tout, pour devenir une nouvelle personne.

Meet someone, spend a month, two or four years of our life at his/her side, then separate, forgetting all those « I love you » launched all the time through the field of love, these moments of strong bond during which both lovers are one. Or meet a person who within a period of time, is our friend and ally against the reality and the everyday life.

Khalid Albaih translates graphically the meeting, the zenith of a love  verging on perfection, then this separation which erases everything. The designer is still in the field of illustration, choosing a comics form presentation. Each sticker show an episode thaht is a step in the relationship evolution. The reader can follow the birth and the evanescence of the line which between subtlety and fragility  tells us a story, a vision of the relationship between two individuals.

Without a word – if it is not the title of the production and the name of the author – or an overload of color, the empty and full treatment makes resonate our imagination in this graphic silence. The simplicity and the sobriety of line strenghten the artist’s purpose, who is full of meaning about the theme of love and / or friendship .

A meeting, a merger, a separation … At the beginning of a whole, to become a new person.
